How to get to Tagbilaran?

By sea: There are regular ferries and boats that go the different towns in Bohol, you can pick among the various ports of entry, aside from Tagbilaran, there is Tubigon, Talibon, Jagna, Ubay, Loon, and Getafe.
By air: There are regular Bohol flights to and from the island (Cebu and Manila). The current airport is located in Tagbilaran, which will be transfered to Panglao in a few years (maybe 2018 or 2018).

The Blood Compact monument (Sandugo). - The Sandugo was a blood compact, performed in the island of Bohol in the Philippines, between the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna the chieftain of Bohol on March 16, 1565, to seal their friendship as part of the tribal tradition. This is considered as the first treaty of friendship between the Spaniards and Filipinos. "Sandugo" is a Visayan word which means "one blood".
Immaculate Conception Parish Church - La Purisima Concepcion de la Virgen Maria Parish Church (also The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Parish Church), commonly known as Baclayon Church, is a Roman Catholic Church in the municipality of Baclayon, Bohol, Philippines within the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagbilaran. Baclayon was founded by the Jesuit priest Juan de Torres and Gabriel Sánchez in 1596, and became the oldest Christian settlement in Bohol. It was elevated as a parish in 1717 and the present coral stone church was completed in 1727. The Augustinian Recollects succeeded the Jesuits in 1768 and heavily renovated the church since then.

Tarsier Conservation Area - The Tarsier Conservation Area is an initial six-hectare woodland area located in barangay Upper Bonbon, Loboc town. A stone's throw away from the Loboc part of the man-made forest, Tarsier Conservation Area is the new home of the captive tarsiers previously displayed for tourists along the Loboc River for decades.
Simply Butterflies Conservation Center - Simply Butterflies Conservation Center is the first butterfly livelihood breeding and conservation program in Bohol. Its main goal is to protect and strengthen the natural environment of the butterflies through plant research, breeding and releasing.
Chocolate Hills - The Chocolate Hills are a group of unusually shaped hills located in the middle of the island of Bohol in Philippines. This extraordinary landscape is unique to this small island. It is known that at the bare minimum there are 1268 hills but some estimates put this number as high as 1776.

What to eat in Bohol? (Local Delicacies)

Peanut Kisses - This is a signature Boholano recipe and only here you can find cookies shaped like a miniature Chocolate Hills (the famous attraction of Bohol) or Hershey Kisses. It is basically made of high-quality peanuts and eggs, baked crisp to bring that nutty crunch in every bite. Every department stores and souvenir shops have displays of these delicious pasalubongs.
Calamay - This is one of the must-try treats when visiting Bohol. Though calamay is known across that country (with other names), nothing beats the Calamay from Jagna, enclosed in a coconut shell and sealed with a red band. It is a concoction of glutinous rice, sugar, coconut milk and some peanuts.
Broa (Lady Fingers) - A cookie, native from Baclayon, soft in texture that literally melts in your mouth once you take a bite. It is light and crisp, perfect for snacks with milk, coffee or hot chocolate. It is also recommended in making Mango Refrigerator Cake.
Bibingka - There are so many versions of this Philippine treat but basically, it is composed of rice flour, sugar, butter and coconut milk wrapped in banana leaves. It is served as “painit” in early in the morning paired with hot coffee or chocolate or an afternoon snack with cold softdrinks.
Maruya (Banana Flitters) - These are among the favorites, not just to the children but to adults as well. Made from Saba bananas, dipped in a sticky mixture, fried and then rolled in sugar, it is perfect for everyday snacks and healthy too.
Biko - A famous Filipino recipe and can be seen in almost all Filipino celebrations. It is made of glutinous rice, coconut milk, sugar (latik).
Torta - Merienda time is torta time. In Bohol you can taste one of the best-tasting tortas in the country. Torta means “cake” in Spanish. It is soft, fluffy, moist and easy to swallow.

Local Festivals in and around Bohol

Festivals in Bohol are basically all-year around, it is just a matter of which one you would like to go to. But the biggest festival would be on the month of May.
Sandugo Festival The annual spectacular Bohol festival featuring an agro-industrial fair, cultural and historical shows, sports events, pageants, balls and dances, entertainment shows and street-dancing which culminates in the re-enactment of the blood compact or Sandugo of Datu Sikatuna and Don Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. This month-long festival falls on July and even starts earlier and extends up to the month of August.
Pandayan Festival This festival celebrates the canonical erection or the parochial anniversary of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Activities include a nine-day novena in honor of the patron saint, a procession of the image of St. Joseph the Worker, Carpentry and Handicrafts Fair, an inter-barangay basketball tournament and last but not least, the street dancing competition.
